Job Description

UC Health is seeking a highly qualified Director of Respiratory Therapy to join our team and lead our respiratory therapy department at UCH. As the Director, you will play a crucial role in overseeing the delivery of high-quality respiratory care to our patients while also managing and developing our dedicated team of respiratory therapists.   1. Oversee the delivery of respiratory therapy services to ensure high-quality care for patients.
  2. Manage and develop a team of respiratory therapists, including hiring, training, and performance evaluations.
  3. Develop and implement departmental policies and procedures in line with industry standards and best practices.
  4. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized treatment plans for patients.
  5. Monitor and analyze departmental performance metrics to identify areas for improvement and implement strategies for optimization.
  6. Ensure compliance with all regulatory and accreditation standards related to respiratory therapy services.
  7. Develop and manage departmental budget, including monitoring expenses and identifying cost-saving opportunities.
  8. Stay up-to-date with advancements in respiratory therapy treatments and technology and implement changes as needed.
  9. Foster a culture of continuous learning and professional development within the respiratory therapy department.
  10. Serve as a liaison between the respiratory therapy department and other departments within the organization.
  11. Represent the respiratory therapy department in meetings and committees as needed.
  12. Act as a mentor and coach to respiratory therapy staff, providing guidance and support to encourage growth and development.
  13. Handle any patient or staff concerns or complaints in a timely and appropriate manner.
  14. Maintain a positive and collaborative working relationship with all members of the healthcare team.
  15. Demonstrate strong leadership skills, including effective communication, decision-making, and conflict resolution.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Respiratory Therapy Or Related Field: A Director Of Respiratory Therapy At Uc Health Should Possess A Bachelor's Degree In Respiratory Therapy Or A Related Field To Demonstrate A Strong Understanding Of The Field And Its Practices.

  • Active Respiratory Therapist (Rrt) License: The Ideal Candidate For This Role Should Hold An Active Respiratory Therapist (Rrt) License, As Well As Any Required State Certifications, To Ensure They Are Qualified To Practice Respiratory Therapy In The State Of Employment.

  • Minimum Of 5 Years Experience In Respiratory Therapy: To Be Considered For The Director Of Respiratory Therapy Position At Uc Health, Candidates Should Have At Least 5 Years Of Experience Working In A Respiratory Therapy Setting, Preferably In A Leadership Or Management Role.

  • Strong Leadership And Communication Skills: As A Director Of Respiratory Therapy, The Candidate Will Be Responsible For Leading A Team Of Respiratory Therapists And Communicating With Other Departments And Healthcare Professionals. Therefore, Strong Leadership And Communication Skills Are Essential For Success In This Role.

  • Knowledge Of Current Respiratory Therapy Practices And Regulations: The Director Of Respiratory Therapy At Uc Health Should Possess A Thorough Understanding Of Current Respiratory Therapy Practices And Regulations To Ensure The Department Complies With All Necessary Standards And Protocols. This Includes Knowledge Of Equipment, Treatment Options, And Patient Care Guidelines.
