
Aviation Accident Investigator
The U.S. Department of Transportation is seeking a talented and highly motivated individual to join our aviation safety team as an Aviation Accident Investigator. In this role, you will have the opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to the safety of our nation’s air transportation system. You will work closely with other government agencies and industry groups to help ensure that fatal aviation accidents are thoroughly and accurately investigated, and that safety recommendations are implemented in a timely manner.To be successful in this role, you must have a strong knowledge of airplane design, construction, and maintenance; a thorough understanding of air traffic control operations; and a working knowledge of pilot training and licensing. You must also have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and be able to communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders. In addition, you must be able to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in order to meet deadlines.
Responsibilities:
- Investigate fatal aviation accidents to ensure accuracy and thoroughness
- Work with other government agencies and industry groups to implement safety recommendations in a timely manner
- Possess a strong knowledge of airplane design, construction, and maintenance
