Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Supervisory Correctional Officer to join our team at the U.S. Department of Justice. This individual will provide leadership and guidance to staff and oversee the day-to-day operations of a correctional facility. The successful candidate should have excellent communication and problem-solving skills, as well as a passion for justice and safety. The ideal candidate will possess a combination of experience and education, including a Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice or a related field, with at least five years of experience in a correctional or law enforcement environment. Additionally, the candidate must possess a valid driver’s license and be able to pass all necessary background checks. Responsibilities:

  1. Supervise and manage staff, ensuring that all correctional operations are carried out according to established policies and procedures.
  2. Monitor and evaluate the performance of staff and provide ongoing feedback for improvement.
  3. Maintain a safe and secure environment for staff and inmates.
  4. Implement security protocols and ensure that proper search procedures are followed.
  5. Communicate effectively with staff and inmates to promote professionalism, respect, and understanding.
  6. Monitor and respond to emergency situations in an efficient and timely manner.
  7. Develop and maintain relationships with local law enforcement agencies.
  8. Manage the daily operations of the correctional facility, including scheduling and budgeting.
  9. Ensure that all necessary paperwork is completed accurately and in a timely manner.
  10. Participate in and facilitate training sessions for staff.
