- Overseeing a team of technical writers and editors, providing guidance, direction, and support to ensure high-quality work and adherence to deadlines.
- Collaborating with subject matter experts and other stakeholders to gather information and ensure accuracy and completeness of technical documents.
- Conducting thorough reviews and edits of technical documents to ensure clarity, consistency, and adherence to department guidelines and standards.
- Developing and implementing processes and procedures to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the technical writing and editing team.
- Providing leadership and mentorship to team members, offering constructive feedback and fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
- Staying up-to-date on industry trends and best practices in technical writing and editing to continuously improve the quality of work produced by the team.
- Contributing to the development and maintenance of style guides, templates, and other resources to support the technical writing and editing process.
- Managing multiple projects simultaneously and prioritizing tasks to meet project deadlines.
- Communicating with stakeholders and other team members to understand project requirements and provide updates on progress and any potential issues.
- Ensuring compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and department policies in the creation and dissemination of technical documents.
- Continuously seeking opportunities to improve processes, tools, and techniques used by the team to enhance the overall quality and efficiency of the technical writing and editing process.
- Conducting performance evaluations and providing ongoing feedback and coaching to team members.
- Collaborating with other departments and teams within the organization to share knowledge, resources, and best practices.
- Representing the department in meetings, conferences, and other events related to technical writing and editing.
- Maintaining confidentiality and handling sensitive information with discretion and integrity.
Bachelor's Degree In English, Journalism, Communications, Or A Related Field.
Minimum Of 5 Years Of Experience In Technical Writing And Editing, With At Least 2 Years In A Supervisory Role.
Strong Knowledge Of Government Writing Standards, Such As The Plain Writing Act And The Federal Plain Language Guidelines.
Proficiency In Various Computer Software, Such As Microsoft Office And Adobe Acrobat.
Excellent Communication And Leadership Skills, With The Ability To Effectively Manage A Team And Meet Project Deadlines.
