
Research Fish Biologist
The U.S. Department of Commerce is currently seeking an experienced and motivated Research Fish Biologist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for fish and aquatic ecosystems and a strong background in fisheries research and fish biology. We are looking for someone with a positive attitude, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment. The successful candidate will have a master’s degree in fish biology, ichthyology, or a related field, as well as at least three years of professional experience in fish biology, fisheries management, or related field. This position offers the opportunity to work with a team of dedicated professionals on projects to ensure the health and sustainability of our aquatic ecosystems.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct research on fish biology, fisheries management, and related topics.
- Monitor and assess fish populations, aquatic habitats, and related factors.
- Develop and implement management strategies for fish and aquatic ecosystems.
- Prepare reports and presentations on research findings and management strategies.
- Maintain accurate records of research and management activities.
- Work collaboratively with other team members to achieve team goals.
- Participate in public outreach and education initiatives related to fish and aquatic ecosystems.
- Represent the U.S. Department of Commerce in conferences and other meetings.
- Utilize data analysis and other software to analyze research data and generate reports.
- Remain up-to-date on the latest developments in fish biology, fisheries management, and related topics.
