Job Description

The U.S. Department of Commerce is currently seeking an experienced and motivated Research Fish Biologist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for fish and aquatic ecosystems and a strong background in fisheries research and fish biology. We are looking for someone with a positive attitude, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment. The successful candidate will have a master’s degree in fish biology, ichthyology, or a related field, as well as at least three years of professional experience in fish biology, fisheries management, or related field. This position offers the opportunity to work with a team of dedicated professionals on projects to ensure the health and sustainability of our aquatic ecosystems.

Responsibilities:

  1. Conduct research on fish biology, fisheries management, and related topics.
  2. Monitor and assess fish populations, aquatic habitats, and related factors.
  3. Develop and implement management strategies for fish and aquatic ecosystems.
  4. Prepare reports and presentations on research findings and management strategies.
  5. Maintain accurate records of research and management activities.
  6. Work collaboratively with other team members to achieve team goals.
  7. Participate in public outreach and education initiatives related to fish and aquatic ecosystems.
  8. Represent the U.S. Department of Commerce in conferences and other meetings.
  9. Utilize data analysis and other software to analyze research data and generate reports.
  10. Remain up-to-date on the latest developments in fish biology, fisheries management, and related topics.
