Responsibilities:

  1. Conduct thorough investigations and excavations at various sites to uncover and preserve artifacts and other evidence of human history.
  2. Utilize advanced research methods and techniques to analyze findings and draw conclusions about the cultural heritage of different regions.
  3. Collaborate with team members and experts in the field to develop and implement research plans.
  4. Maintain accurate and detailed records of all findings and ensure proper documentation and preservation of artifacts.
  5. Stay up-to-date on current archeological theories, practices, and techniques.
  6. Use geospatial technology and other tools to assist in data analysis and mapping.
  7. Communicate findings and research results through written reports, presentations, and other mediums.
  8. Participate in public outreach and education programs to promote the importance of preserving our nation's cultural heritage.
  9. Adhere to all relevant laws, regulations, and ethical standards in the field of archeology.
  10. Contribute to the development of policies and procedures for managing and preserving archaeological resources.
  11. Collaborate with government agencies, indigenous communities, and other stakeholders to ensure the protection of cultural resources.
  12. Continuously evaluate and improve research methods and techniques to enhance the accuracy and efficiency of investigations.
  13. Provide guidance and training to junior staff and volunteers.
  14. Adhere to strict safety protocols while conducting fieldwork.
  15. Maintain a professional and ethical demeanor at all times.

  • Advanced Degree In Archaeology: A Minimum Of A Master's Degree In Archaeology Or A Related Field Is Typically Required For A Research Archaeologist Position At The U.s. Department Of Commerce.
