Job Description

The U.S. Department of Commerce is looking for an experienced Economist (Research) to join our team. As the Economist (Research), you will be responsible for conducting research on economic trends and data to provide insight into the operation of the U.S. economy and the national and international economic environment. You will use your strong understanding of economic theory, statistical analysis, and research methods to contribute to policy decisions and make recommendations.To be considered for this role, you must have a Master's degree in Economics, at least two years of related experience, and a deep understanding of economic principles, quantitative research methods, and statistical software. Responsibilities:

  1. Conduct research on economic trends and data to gain insight into the operation of the U.S. economy and the national and international economic environment.

  4. Prepare reports and presentations based on your economic research.
  5. Monitor economic data to identify significant changes and current trends.
  6. Utilize econometric modeling and forecasting to analyze economic data.
  7. Collaborate with other economists in the Department of Commerce to develop policy initiatives and strategies.
  8. Stay abreast of economic news and developments.
  9. Provide expert advice and consultation regarding economic policies and issues.
