- Manage the overall operations and strategic direction of the Office of National Geodetic Survey (NGS) within the U.S. Department of Commerce.
- Lead and provide vision for the development and implementation of geospatial programs and services that support economic growth and national security.
- Oversee the collection, analysis, and dissemination of accurate and reliable geospatial data, including positioning, navigation, and timing services.
- Develop and maintain strong partnerships with government agencies, private sector organizations, and international counterparts to advance geospatial technologies and standards.
- Ensure compliance with national and international standards for geodetic and geospatial data accuracy and integrity.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to identify and address emerging geospatial needs and opportunities.
- Develop and manage budgets, contracts, and resources to support NGS operations and initiatives.
- Provide effective leadership and direction to a team of geospatial professionals, promoting a culture of innovation, collaboration, and excellence.
- Keep up-to-date with advancements in geospatial technologies and promote their adoption to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of NGS operations.
- Represent NGS and the Department of Commerce in public forums and conferences, advocating for the value and importance of geospatial data and technology.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and policies related to geospatial data and technology.
- Foster a diverse and inclusive work environment that values and promotes the contributions of all team members.
- Communicate and collaborate effectively with other government agencies, stakeholders, and the public to promote the mission and goals of NGS and the Department of Commerce.
- Support the development and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure the security and integrity of geospatial data and systems.
- Continuously evaluate and improve NGS programs and processes to enhance efficiency, effectiveness, and customer satisfaction.
Bachelor's Degree In Geodesy, Geography, Surveying, Or A Related Field.
Minimum Of 10 Years Of Experience In Geodetic Surveying And Mapping, Including At Least 5 Years In A Leadership Or Management Role.
Extensive Knowledge Of Geodetic Surveying Techniques, Geospatial Data Management, And Geodetic Reference Systems.
Strong Understanding Of Federal Laws And Regulations Related To Geodetic Surveying And Mapping, Such As The National Geodetic Survey Act And The Geospatial Data Act.
Excellent Communication, Interpersonal, And Organizational Skills, With The Ability To Collaborate And Coordinate With Various Stakeholders, Including Government Agencies, Private Organizations, And The Public.
