- Develop and implement strategic policies and initiatives related to education and international engagement in collaboration with the Chief Policy Officer.
- Conduct research and analysis on national and international education trends and trade policies to inform decision making.
- Serve as a subject matter expert on education and international affairs, providing guidance and recommendations to senior leadership.
- Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders in the education and international trade sectors, including government officials, industry leaders, and non-profit organizations.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of policies and make recommendations for improvements or adjustments as needed.
- Collaborate with other departments and agencies within the U.S. Department of Commerce to ensure alignment and coordination of policies and initiatives.
- Represent the U.S. Department of Commerce at conferences, meetings, and other events related to education and international trade.
- Manage a team of policy analysts and other staff members, providing mentorship, guidance, and support.
- Stay current on legislative and regulatory developments related to education and international affairs and provide updates and recommendations to senior leadership.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of the U.S. Department of Commerce's overall strategic plan and goals.
- Communicate and promote the U.S. Department of Commerce's policies and initiatives to external audiences through various channels, including media outlets and social media platforms.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and ethical standards in carrying out policy objectives.
- Continuously seek opportunities for innovation and improvement in policies and processes related to education and international engagement.
- Collaborate with international partners and organizations to promote the U.S. Department of Commerce's policies and initiatives on a global scale.
- Serve as a key point of contact for inquiries and requests related to education and international engagement policies from internal and external stakeholders.
Advanced Degree In Education Or Public Policy: A Deputy Chief Policy Officer For Education And International Engagement At The U.s. Department Of Commerce Should Have A Minimum Of A Master's Degree In Education, Public Policy, Or A Related Field. A Ph.d. Or Equivalent Experience Is Preferred.
Extensive Knowledge Of Education Policy: The Ideal Candidate Should Possess A Deep Understanding Of Education Policy At The Local, State, And National Levels. They Should Be Familiar With Current Trends And Challenges In The Field Of Education, Including International Education Policies And Initiatives.
Experience In International Engagement: This Role Requires Someone With Experience In International Engagement, Such As Working With Foreign Governments, International Organizations, Or Developing Partnerships With International Educational Institutions. Familiarity With Global Education Trends And Policies Is Also Essential.
Strong Leadership And Management Skills: As The Deputy Chief Policy Officer, The Candidate Should Have Proven Leadership And Management Skills, Including The Ability To Oversee A Team, Coordinate Projects, And Manage Budgets. They Should Also Have Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills To Collaborate Effectively With Internal And External Stakeholders.
