
Court Reporter
The U.S. Department of Commerce is looking for a detail-oriented and organized individual to serve as a Court Reporter. In this position, you will be responsible for producing verbatim transcriptions of legal proceedings, including court hearings, trials, and other court-related proceedings. You must have excellent listening skills, have a strong attention to detail, and have the ability to write quickly and accurately. The ideal candidate will have the ability to work well under pressure and handle highly sensitive information in a confidential manner. Responsibilities:
- Produce accurate and verbatim transcriptions of all court proceedings.
- Monitor and accurately record court proceedings using shorthand, stenography, or audio recording equipment.
- Ensure accuracy of court records by proofreading transcriptions.
- Maintain confidentiality of confidential court information.
- Operate and maintain court recording equipment.
- Prepare and submit court transcripts to the appropriate authorities.
- Remain up-to-date on changes in court reporting laws and regulations.
- Research and verify information for accuracy when necessary.
- Work collaboratively with other court professionals, such as attorneys and judges.
- Provide assistance to court personnel in other areas as needed.
