Job Description

The U.S. Department of Commerce is seeking an experienced and innovative Chief Data Scientist to lead our data science team and drive the development of high-quality, data-driven solutions and insights. In this role, you will be responsible for developing a comprehensive strategy to transform data into actionable insights and products for the Department. You will also need to identify key areas where data can help inform the Department's policy objectives and provide guidance to ensure best practices are used to develop and deploy data-driven initiatives.The ideal candidate for this role will have a deep knowledge of data science concepts and techniques; a strong understanding of data analytics and visualization, including machine learning and artificial intelligence; and a clear vision for how data can be used to drive the Department's mission. Additionally, you must possess excellent communication skills and the ability to develop relationships with stakeholders at all levels. The ideal candidate will also have several years of experience leading a data science team and have a proven track record of successfully delivering results.

Responsibilities:

  1. Develop a comprehensive data science strategy to drive the Department's policy objectives.
  2. Lead the data science team to develop high-quality, data-driven solutions and insights.

  4. Provide guidance on best practices for developing and deploying data-driven initiatives.
  5. Utilize data analytics and visualization, including machine learning and artificial intelligence, to transform data into actionable insights and products.
  6. Communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
  7. Develop relationships with stakeholders to ensure successful delivery of results.
  8. Maintain a deep knowledge of data science concepts and techniques.
