Job Description

The U.S. Department of Agriculture is looking for a highly motivated Recreation Management Specialist to join our team. This individual will be responsible for providing technical assistance to public and private entities in the development and management of recreational activities and resources. We are looking for an organized, creative, and self-motivated individual who is passionate about recreation management. The successful candidate should possess a Bachelor’s degree in Recreation Management or a related field, as well as two or more years of experience in recreation planning and management. Experience in state parks, recreation areas, or other public lands is strongly preferred. Additionally, the candidate should have excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to think strategically to solve problems. Responsibilities: • Provide technical assistance to public and private entities in the development and management of recreational activities and resources • Develop and manage recreational activities and resources • Prepare reports and other documents related to recreation management • Monitor recreation activities and resources to ensure they are in compliance with regulations • Research and develop new recreation management strategies • Oversee and coordinate the implementation of recreation management plans • Analyze user feedback to identify opportunities for improvement • Participate in recreational planning and management meetings • Provide guidance to staff and stakeholders on recreation management issues • Collaborate with other agencies and organizations to ensure the successful management of recreation activities and resources • Recommend changes and improvements to existing recreation management policies and procedures • Develop and implement training programs for recreation management staff
