Job Description

We are looking for a skilled and compassionate Clinical Lab Assistant - Phlebotomist to join our team at TriCore Reference Laboratories. As a vital member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for collecting and processing patient specimens for laboratory testing.   1. Collect and process patient specimens for laboratory testing in a timely and accurate manner.
  2. Follow established procedures and protocols for specimen collection, labeling, and handling to ensure quality and accuracy of test results.
  3. Maintain a clean and organized work environment to prevent contamination and ensure patient safety.
  4. Communicate with patients in a compassionate and professional manner to alleviate any fears or concerns related to specimen collection.
  5. Use proper safety techniques and equipment to minimize risk of exposure to infectious materials.
  6. Adhere to HIPAA guidelines and maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
  7. Work closely with other members of the healthcare team to ensure efficient and effective patient care.
  8. Perform routine maintenance and quality control checks on equipment and report any issues or malfunctions.
  9. Accurately record and document patient information and test results in the laboratory information system.
  10. Participate in continuing education and training to stay updated on new procedures and techniques in the field of phlebotomy.
  11. Assist in inventory management and ordering of necessary supplies.
  12. Maintain a high level of professionalism, integrity, and ethical behavior in all interactions with patients, coworkers, and healthcare providers.
  13. Follow all safety protocols and procedures to prevent workplace accidents and injuries.
  14. Collaborate with laboratory staff to troubleshoot and resolve any issues with specimens or test results.
  15. Continuously seek opportunities for improvement in processes and procedures to enhance the quality of patient care.

Job Qualifications
  • Certification: A Clinical Lab Assistant - Phlebotomist At Tricore Reference Laboratories Should Have A Valid Certification From A Recognized Organization, Such As The American Society For Clinical Pathology (Ascp) Or The National Phlebotomy Association (Npa). This Ensures That The Individual Has Received Proper Training And Has The Necessary Skills To Perform Phlebotomy Procedures.

  • Experience: Tricore Reference Laboratories Prefers Candidates With Prior Experience In A Clinical Lab Or Healthcare Setting. This Experience Should Include Performing Phlebotomy Procedures, Handling And Processing Specimens, And Following Safety Protocols.

  • Knowledge Of Medical Terminology: A Clinical Lab Assistant - Phlebotomist Should Have A Strong Understanding Of Medical Terminology And The Ability To Accurately Identify And Label Specimens. This Is Crucial For Maintaining The Integrity Of The Samples And Ensuring Accurate Test Results.

  • Attention To Detail: As A Clinical Lab Assistant - Phlebotomist, Attention To Detail Is Essential In Order To Accurately Collect, Label, And Process Specimens. This Includes Following Proper Procedures For Specimen Collection, Labeling, And Handling, As Well As Identifying And Reporting Any Abnormalities Or Discrepancies.

  • Communication And Interpersonal Skills: Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills Are Necessary For A Clinical Lab Assistant - Phlebotomist To Interact Effectively With Patients, Healthcare Professionals, And Other Laboratory Staff. This Includes Being Able To Explain Procedures To Patients, Address Any Concerns Or Questions, And Work Collaboratively With Team Members.
