- Perform phlebotomy procedures on patients in a safe and efficient manner, following all established protocols and safety measures.
- Collect, label, and process specimens accurately and in a timely manner.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring proper disposal of hazardous materials and adherence to infection control guidelines.
- Follow designated procedures for specimen handling, processing, and storage.
- Utilize various laboratory equipment and instruments to perform tests and maintain quality control.
- Record and maintain accurate documentation of all tests performed and results obtained.
- Collaborate with other laboratory staff and healthcare providers to ensure efficient workflow and accurate results.
- Maintain inventory of supplies and reagents, and communicate any shortages or discrepancies to higher management.
- Adhere to all laboratory policies and procedures, as well as regulatory and safety guidelines.
- Continuously seek opportunities for professional development and stay updated with advances in phlebotomy and laboratory techniques.
- Demonstrate excellent customer service skills and maintain a positive and professional attitude while interacting with patients and healthcare providers.
- Maintain confidentiality of all patient information and results.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and assist with maintaining laboratory accreditation.
- Comply with all HIPAA regulations and maintain patient privacy and confidentiality.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor or higher management.
Relevant Education And Training: A Minimum Of A High School Diploma With Specialized Training In Phlebotomy Is Required For This Position. A Certificate Or Associate's Degree In A Related Field Is Preferred.
Experience In Phlebotomy: Candidates Should Have At Least 1 Year Of Experience Working As A Phlebotomist In A Clinical Laboratory Setting. This Experience Should Include Venipuncture, Specimen Handling, And Knowledge Of Laboratory Procedures.
Knowledge Of Laboratory Equipment: Candidates Should Have A Strong Understanding Of Laboratory Equipment, Including Centrifuges, Microscopes, And Automated Analyzers. Familiarity With Laboratory Information Systems (Lis) Is Also Preferred.
Attention To Detail: Clinical Lab Assistants - Phlebotomists Must Have Excellent Attention To Detail To Ensure Accuracy In Specimen Collection, Labeling, And Processing. This Is Critical To Maintain The Integrity Of Patient Samples And Ensure Accurate Test Results.
Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills: This Role Involves Frequent Interaction With Patients, Laboratory Staff, And Other Healthcare Professionals. Excellent Communication Skills And The Ability To Work Well In A Team Setting Are Essential For Success In This Position.
