- Collect and handle blood specimens with precision and care according to established protocols and safety procedures.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, including proper disposal of biohazardous materials.
- Provide exceptional customer service to patients by ensuring their comfort and addressing any concerns or questions they may have.
- Accurately label and process specimens for testing, ensuring proper identification and tracking.
- Perform venipunctures and skin punctures using appropriate techniques and equipment.
- Monitor and maintain inventory levels of necessary phlebotomy supplies.
- Follow all HIPAA regulations and maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure accurate and timely specimen collection and delivery.
- Keep accurate records and documentation of all phlebotomy procedures.
- Participate in ongoing training and education to stay current on new techniques and procedures.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures to prevent accidents and maintain a safe work environment.
- Maintain compliance with all applicable regulations and guidelines, including OSHA and CLIA.
- Demonstrate compassion and empathy towards patients, providing a positive and supportive experience.

Completion Of An Accredited Phlebotomy Program: Candidates Should Have Completed A Formal Training Program In Phlebotomy From An Accredited Institution. This Will Ensure They Have A Strong Foundation In Phlebotomy Techniques, Safety Procedures, And Medical Terminology.
Certification As A Certified Phlebotomy Technician (Cpt): A Cpt Certification From A Recognized Organization, Such As The National Healthcareer Association (Nha) Or The American Society For Clinical Pathology (Ascp), Is Preferred. This Demonstrates The Candidate's Knowledge And Competency In Phlebotomy.
Experience With Various Collection Methods: Candidates Should Have Experience With A Variety Of Blood Collection Methods, Including Venipuncture, Capillary Puncture, And Arterial Puncture. This Will Ensure They Are Comfortable And Skilled In Obtaining Blood Samples From Patients Of All Ages And Conditions.
Knowledge Of Laboratory Procedures And Equipment: A Cla Phlebotomist Should Have A Strong Understanding Of Laboratory Procedures And Equipment Used For Processing And Analyzing Blood Samples. This Includes Knowledge Of Equipment Maintenance, Specimen Handling, And Quality Control Procedures.
Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills: Working With Patients Requires Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills. Candidates Should Be Able To Explain Procedures, Calm Anxious Patients, And Work Effectively With A Diverse Group Of Individuals. A Friendly And Professional Demeanor Is Essential For Building Trust With Patients And Maintaining A Positive Work Environment.
