- Conduct surveillance and monitor store activity to identify and prevent theft, shoplifting, and other fraudulent activities.
- Utilize CCTV and other loss prevention technology to identify potential security threats and take necessary action.
- Conduct thorough investigations into incidents of theft, fraud, and other security breaches.
- Collaborate with store management and law enforcement to apprehend and prosecute individuals involved in theft and fraud.
- Monitor and enforce store policies and procedures related to security and loss prevention.
- Train and educate store associates on loss prevention strategies and best practices.
- Conduct regular audits of inventory and merchandise to identify any discrepancies and prevent loss.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of all security and loss prevention activities.
- Stay up-to-date on industry trends and recommend improvements to company security and loss prevention strategies.
- Communicate effectively with team members and management to share information and address any security concerns.
- Serve as a role model for integrity and ethical behavior in the workplace.
- Follow all safety protocols and ensure a safe working environment for all employees and customers.
- Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with utmost discretion.
- Demonstrate a proactive and vigilant approach to preventing and addressing security threats.
- Collaborate with other departments, such as HR and Legal, to assist with security-related issues.
Experience In Loss Prevention: Candidates Should Have A Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience In A Similar Role, Preferably In A Retail Environment. This Includes Knowledge Of Theft Prevention Techniques, Investigation Procedures, And Surveillance Methods.
Strong Observational Skills: A Successful Loss Prevention Detective Must Have Keen Observational Skills To Identify Suspicious Behavior And Potential Theft Activity. They Should Also Have The Ability To Remain Discreet And Maintain A Low Profile While Conducting Surveillance.
Excellent Communication Skills: Effective Communication Is Essential For A Loss Prevention Detective To Liaise With Store Management, Law Enforcement, And Other Team Members. They Should Be Able To Write Detailed Reports, Provide Clear And Concise Testimony, And Communicate Effectively With Potential Suspects.
Knowledge Of Cctv And Electronic Article Surveillance (Eas) Systems: Proficiency In Operating And Troubleshooting Cctv And Eas Systems Is A Crucial Qualification For A Loss Prevention Detective. They Should Be Able To Monitor And Review Footage To Identify Theft Patterns And Incidents.
Understanding Of Legal And Ethical Standards: A Loss Prevention Detective Must Have A Strong Understanding Of Legal And Ethical Standards Related To The Investigation And Apprehension Of Individuals Suspected Of Theft. They Should Also Be Familiar With Store Policies And Procedures To Ensure Compliance During Investigations.
