At The Scripps Research Institute, we are seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to join our development team as the Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations.   1. Develop and implement a comprehensive strategy for securing funding from corporate and foundation partners to support the organization's research initiatives.
  2. Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with existing corporate and foundation partners, as well as identify and engage potential new partners.
  3. Collaborate with the development team to create compelling proposals and presentations that effectively communicate the organization's mission, programs, and impact to potential funders.
  4. Conduct thorough research on potential corporate and foundation partners to identify their philanthropic priorities and interests.
  5. Develop and manage a robust pipeline of prospective corporate and foundation partners, including tracking and reporting on progress and outcomes.
  6. Collaborate with the organization's scientific and administrative leaders to understand and effectively communicate the impact of research projects to potential funders.
  7. Represent the organization at relevant industry events, conferences, and meetings to network and build relationships with potential funders.
  8. Stay updated on emerging trends and best practices in corporate and foundation giving to inform and improve the organization's fundraising efforts.
  9. Collaborate with the marketing and communications team to develop materials and messaging that effectively communicate the organization's impact to potential funders.
  10. Manage and track all corporate and foundation giving, including acknowledgment, recognition, and reporting requirements.
  11. Provide guidance and support to other members of the development team on corporate and foundation fundraising strategies and best practices.
  12. Collaborate with other departments within the organization to ensure alignment and coordination of fundraising efforts.
  13. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all interactions and communications with corporate and foundation partners in the organization's donor database.
  14. Collaborate with the finance team to ensure proper financial stewardship of corporate and foundation gifts.
  15. Continuously assess and evaluate the effectiveness of corporate and foundation fundraising strategies and make recommendations for improvement.

Job Qualifications
  • Extensive Experience In Fundraising: The Ideal Candidate Should Have At Least 7-10 Years Of Experience In Corporate And Foundation Fundraising, With A Proven Track Record Of Securing Significant Donations. This Includes Experience In Developing And Executing Fundraising Plans, Identifying New Funding Sources, And Cultivating Relationships With Potential Donors.

  • Strong Communication And Relationship Building Skills: The Director Of Corporate And Foundation Relations Will Be Responsible For Building And Maintaining Relationships With Corporate And Foundation Representatives. Therefore, Excellent Communication Skills, Both Verbal And Written, Are Essential. The Candidate Should Also Possess Strong Interpersonal Skills To Effectively Build And Maintain Relationships With Diverse Stakeholders.

  • Knowledge Of The Biotech And Pharmaceutical Industry: The Scripps Research Institute Is A World-Renowned Biomedical Research Organization, And The Director Of Corporate And Foundation Relations Will Be Responsible For Securing Funding From Companies In The Biotech And Pharmaceutical Industry. Therefore, The Ideal Candidate Should Have A Deep Understanding Of The Industry, Its Trends, And The Key Players.

  • Strategic Thinking And Planning: The Director Of Corporate And Foundation Relations Will Be Responsible For Developing And Implementing A Strategic Fundraising Plan To Meet The Organization's Goals. The Candidate Should Have A Strong Understanding Of Fundraising Strategies And Best Practices, As Well As The Ability To Think Creatively And Strategically To Identify New Opportunities For Funding.

  • Bachelor's Or Master's Degree In A Relevant Field: The Ideal Candidate Should Have A Bachelor's Or Master's Degree In A Relevant Field Such As Business, Nonprofit Management, Public Relations, Or Communications. A Degree In A Scientific Or Biomedical Field Is Also Desirable, As It Would Provide A Deeper Understanding Of The Research Conducted At The Scripps Research Institute.
