Job Description

At The Home Depot, our Freight/Receiving team plays a crucial role in ensuring that our stores are well-stocked and organized for our customers. We are currently seeking a motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team in this important position. As a member of our Freight/Receiving team, you will have the opportunity to contribute to the smooth and efficient operation of our store.   1. Receive and process incoming shipments of merchandise, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  2. Organize and stock merchandise in designated areas, following company policies and procedures.
  3. Maintain a clean and organized receiving area, ensuring a safe and efficient work environment.
  4. Collaborate with other team members to efficiently unload and sort merchandise.
  5. Utilize equipment, such as forklifts and pallet jacks, to move and transport merchandise.
  6. Identify damaged or defective merchandise and follow proper procedures for handling.
  7. Keep track of inventory levels and communicate any discrepancies to management.
  8. Assist customers with loading and unloading merchandise as needed.
  9. Adhere to all safety protocols and company policies to ensure a safe working environment.
  10. Work collaboratively with other departments to ensure proper merchandise flow and inventory accuracy.
  11. Communicate effectively with team members and management to ensure efficient and timely completion of tasks.
  12. Participate in store inventory counts and assist with reconciling any discrepancies.
  13. Continuously seek ways to improve processes and procedures to increase productivity and efficiency.
  14. Train and mentor new team members as needed.
  15. Maintain a positive attitude and contribute to a positive team culture.

Job Qualifications
  • Prior Experience In A Warehouse Or Receiving Environment: The Ideal Candidate Should Have A Strong Understanding Of Warehouse Operations And Experience Working In A Fast-Paced Receiving Environment.

  • Ability To Lift And Move Heavy Objects: This Job Requires Physical Strength And The Ability To Lift And Move Heavy Merchandise, Which Can Weigh Up To 50 Pounds.

  • Familiarity With Safety Protocols: The Candidate Should Have A Good Understanding Of Safety Protocols And Be Able To Follow Them Consistently To Ensure A Safe Work Environment For Themselves And Their Colleagues.

  • Excellent Organizational And Time-Management Skills: The Role Of A Freight/Receiving Associate Involves Handling A Large Volume Of Merchandise, So Strong Organizational Skills And The Ability To Manage Time Efficiently Are Essential.
