Job Description

We here at The Enterprise are looking for a Breaking News Editor to join our team and help us keep our readers informed with the latest news. We’re looking for someone with a passion for news, who can identify and pursue important stories, write compelling headlines and think quickly on their feet. The ideal candidate should have at least 3 years of experience in a similar role, and should be comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment. If you have a keen eye for news and the ability to work quickly and accurately, we want to hear from you!

  1. Work with editorial team to identify and pursue important news stories.
  2. Write compelling headlines that accurately capture the story’s content and intent.
  3. Source and verify information quickly and accurately.
  4. Work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
  5. Stay up to date on current events and newsworthy topics.
  6. Manage deadlines and prioritize tasks accordingly.
  7. Work closely with other departments in order to ensure the timeliness and accuracy of all news content.
  8. Monitor social media for newsworthy content.
  9. Provide editorial feedback and direction to staff writers.
  10. Edit copy for grammar, accuracy and clarity.
