We are currently seeking a skilled Tradesperson with expertise in Steam Systems to join our team.As a Tradesperson at Texas Tech, you will play a crucial role in maintaining and repairing our university's steam systems, ensuring that they operate efficiently and safely.   1. Perform regular maintenance and repairs on Texas Tech's steam systems to ensure efficient and safe operation.
  2. Monitor and troubleshoot steam systems for any potential issues or malfunctions.
  3. Collaborate with other tradespeople and technicians to coordinate repair and maintenance projects.
  4. Follow all safety protocols and procedures when working with steam systems.
  5. Keep accurate records of all maintenance and repair work performed on steam systems.
  6. Communicate effectively with colleagues and superiors regarding any issues or concerns with the steam systems.
  7. Stay up-to-date on industry standards and best practices for steam system maintenance and repair.
  8. Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring all tools and equipment are properly stored.
  9. Respond to emergency situations involving steam systems and take appropriate action to resolve the issue.
  10. Provide exceptional customer service to the campus community by addressing any concerns or questions regarding steam systems.
  11. Keep track of inventory and order necessary supplies and equipment for steam system maintenance and repair.
  12. Train and mentor new team members on steam system maintenance and repair procedures.
  13. Participate in departmental meetings and training sessions to stay informed of any updates or changes related to steam systems.
  14. Adhere to all university policies and procedures while representing Texas Tech in a professional manner.
  15. Continuously evaluate and recommend improvements to the steam system maintenance and repair processes.
  16. Collaborate with other university departments to ensure steam systems are functioning properly for campus events and activities.

Job Qualifications
  • Relevant Trades Certification: Candidates Should Possess A Valid Certification In Steam Systems Or A Related Trade, Such As Plumbing Or Hvac, From A Recognized Institution.

  • Experience In Steam System Maintenance: The Ideal Candidate Should Have At Least 3-5 Years Of Experience In Maintaining And Repairing Steam Systems, Preferably In A Large Institutional Or Industrial Setting.

  • Knowledge Of Safety Regulations: A Strong Understanding Of Safety Regulations And Procedures Related To Steam Systems, Such As Lockout/Tagout And Confined Space Entry, Is Essential For This Role.

  • Troubleshooting Skills: Candidates Should Have Strong Troubleshooting Skills And Be Able To Diagnose And Address Issues With Steam Systems, Including Identifying And Repairing Leaks, Clogs, And Other Malfunctions.

  • Physical Ability: This Job May Involve Heavy Lifting, Climbing Ladders, And Working In Tight Spaces, So Candidates Should Be Physically Fit And Able To Perform These Tasks Safely And Effectively.
