We are currently seeking an International Student Support Specialist & J1 Advisor to join our team and support our growing population of international students. This role is crucial in ensuring the success and well-being of our international students, and we are looking for someone who is passionate about cross-cultural communication and has a strong understanding of the needs and challenges faced by international students.   • Assist international students with their transition to campus life by providing support and resources, including but not limited to housing, transportation, banking, healthcare, and cultural adjustment.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for international students, responding to inquiries and providing guidance on university policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with various campus departments, such as admissions, housing, and academic advising, to ensure a seamless and positive experience for international students.
  • Plan and facilitate orientation programs for new international students to introduce them to campus resources and services.
  • Advise J1 visa students on immigration regulations, including maintaining proper status and obtaining necessary work authorization.
  • Conduct individual advising sessions with international students to address their academic, personal, and social concerns.
  • Develop and implement programs and events that promote cultural understanding and diversity on campus.
  • Stay updated on current trends and issues related to international education and student services to continuously improve the support provided to international students.
  • Serve as a designated school official (DSO) and alternate responsible officer (ARO) for the J1 visa program, ensuring compliance with government regulations.
  • Maintain accurate records and data on international students, including their academic progress, immigration status, and participation in programs and events.
  • Collaborate with other international student support staff to develop and implement policies and procedures that enhance the overall experience of international students at the university.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Counseling, Education, International Relations, Or Related Field.

  • At Least 2 Years Of Experience Working With International Students In A University Setting.

  • Knowledge And Understanding Of Immigration Regulations And Procedures For J1 Visa Students.

  • Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills To Effectively Interact With Students, Faculty, And Staff From Diverse Backgrounds.

  • Ability To Plan And Coordinate Programs And Events To Support And Engage International Students.
