  1. Provide academic advising and support to students at Texas State University.
  2. Assist students in selecting appropriate courses and developing an academic plan.
  3. Stay up-to-date on university academic policies and procedures to accurately advise students.
  4. Help students navigate the university's academic resources and services.
  5. Monitor students' academic progress and intervene when necessary.
  6. Collaborate with faculty and staff to ensure students' academic success.
  7. Conduct individual and group advising sessions.
  8. Maintain accurate and organized records of student advising sessions.
  9. Attend training and professional development opportunities to stay current in advising practices.
  10. Foster a positive and inclusive environment for students from diverse backgrounds.
  11. Participate in recruitment and orientation events to promote academic advising services.
  12. Collaborate with other academic advisors to improve advising processes and procedures.
  13. Uphold confidentiality and ethical standards in all advising interactions.
  14. Continuously assess and improve advising practices to better serve students.
  15. Communicate effectively with students, faculty, and staff in person, via email, and over the phone.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In A Relevant Field Such As Counseling, Education, Or Psychology.

  • Experience Working In Higher Education, Preferably In Academic Advising Or Student Services.

  • Excellent Interpersonal And Communication Skills, With The Ability To Work With Diverse Populations.

  • Strong Organizational And Time Management Skills With The Ability To Handle Multiple Tasks And Prioritize Effectively.
