  1. Provide academic advising and support to students from diverse backgrounds to help them achieve their academic and personal goals.
  2. Assist students in creating and implementing academic plans that align with their interests, strengths, and career aspirations.
  3. Stay up-to-date on university policies, procedures, and requirements to accurately advise students on course selection, major/minor options, and graduation requirements.
  4. Conduct regular meetings with assigned students to monitor their academic progress and address any concerns or challenges.
  5. Collaborate with other academic advisors, faculty, and staff to ensure students receive comprehensive support and resources.
  6. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student interactions and progress.
  7. Provide guidance and support to students in navigating the university system and connecting them with appropriate campus resources.
  8. Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance advising skills and stay updated on industry best practices.
  9. Act as a liaison between students and other university departments, including financial aid, registrar, and career services.
  10. Attend and participate in university events and initiatives aimed at promoting student success and retention.
  11. Serve as an advocate for students and promote a positive and inclusive campus environment.
  12. Assist in the development and implementation of programs and services that support student academic success.
  13. Stay current on trends and issues in higher education and incorporate them into advising practices.
  14. Handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
  15. Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Job Qualifications
  • A Minimum Of A Bachelor's Degree In A Related Field Such As Education, Counseling, Or Psychology.

  • Previous Experience Working In An Academic Advising Role, Preferably At The University Level.

  • Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills, With The Ability To Effectively Interact With Students, Faculty, And Staff.

  • Knowledge Of Degree Requirements, Academic Policies, And Resources Available At Texas State University.

  • Strong Organizational And Time Management Skills To Effectively Handle A Large Caseload Of Students And Meet Deadlines.
