  1. Provide exceptional support to the Labor and Delivery department through efficient and organized administrative tasks.
  2. Collaborate with nurses, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to ensure smooth operations and patient care.
  3. Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, including medical history, test results, and other important information.
  4. Schedule appointments, procedures, and surgeries for patients, while ensuring timely communication with all parties involved.
  5. Handle incoming calls, inquiries, and requests from patients, family members, and healthcare staff in a professional and courteous manner.
  6. Monitor and order necessary supplies, equipment, and medications for the unit, following established protocols and procedures.
  7. Coordinate with insurance companies and other third-party payers to ensure timely and accurate billing and reimbursement.
  8. Adhere to all HIPAA and other regulatory guidelines, maintaining strict confidentiality of patient information.
  9. Participate in team meetings and training sessions to stay updated on unit policies, procedures, and best practices.
  10. Demonstrate a strong understanding of medical terminology and procedures, as well as the ability to accurately transcribe physician orders.
  11. Identify and report any issues or concerns that may impact patient care, safety, or satisfaction.
  12. Maintain a positive and professional demeanor at all times, representing the hospital and Tenet Healthcare in a positive light.

Job Qualifications
  • Knowledge Of Labor And Delivery Procedures And Protocols: A Unit Secretary In Labor And Delivery At Tenet Healthcare Should Have A Strong Understanding Of The Specific Procedures And Protocols Involved In Caring For Patients In This Unit. This Includes Knowledge Of Common Obstetric And Gynecological Conditions, Labor And Delivery Processes, And Postpartum Care.

  • Excellent Organizational And Multitasking Skills: As A Unit Secretary, You Will Be Responsible For Managing A High Volume Of Patient Information, Including Medical Records, Lab Results, And Patient Charts. You Should Have Strong Organizational Skills To Keep Track Of This Information And Be Able To Multitask Efficiently In A Fast-Paced Environment.

  • Proficiency In Medical Terminology And Documentation: A Unit Secretary In Labor And Delivery Should Have A Solid Understanding Of Medical Terminology, Including Obstetric And Gynecological Terms. You Should Also Be Proficient In Using Electronic Medical Record Systems To Accurately Document Patient Information.

  • Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills: As A Unit Secretary, You Will Be Interacting With Patients, Families, And Healthcare Providers On A Daily Basis. You Should Have Excellent Communication Skills To Effectively Convey Information And Be Able To Maintain A Professional And Compassionate Demeanor At All Times.

  • Experience In A Healthcare Setting: Previous Experience Working In A Healthcare Setting, Particularly In Labor And Delivery, Is Highly Desirable For This Role. This Experience Will Give You A Strong Foundation In The Specific Procedures And Protocols Used In This Unit, As Well As An Understanding Of The Unique Needs Of Laboring And Postpartum Patients.
