- Greet and welcome patients and their families to the Labor and Delivery unit with a warm and friendly attitude.
- Maintain a professional and courteous demeanor when interacting with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
- Perform administrative tasks such as answering phone calls, scheduling appointments, and managing patient records.
- Assist healthcare professionals in providing exceptional care to patients by ensuring that all necessary supplies and equipment are readily available.
- Monitor and maintain inventory levels of unit supplies and equipment, and communicate any shortages or needs to the appropriate department.
- Keep patient and medical records updated and organized, ensuring confidentiality and accuracy at all times.
- Coordinate and communicate with other departments and healthcare team members to ensure seamless patient care.
- Assist in admitting and discharging patients, ensuring all necessary paperwork and documentation is completed accurately and in a timely manner.
- Provide emotional support and comfort to patients and their families during their stay at the Labor and Delivery unit.
- Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures, as well as regulatory guidelines, to maintain a safe and efficient work environment.
- Attend and actively participate in staff meetings and training sessions to stay updated on hospital protocols and procedures.
- Continuously seek opportunities to improve and streamline processes to enhance patient care and overall unit efficiency.
- Report any issues or concerns to the unit manager or appropriate department for prompt resolution.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, following infection control and safety protocols.

Administrative And Organizational Skills: The Ability To Multitask And Stay Organized Is Crucial For Unit Secretaries Working In A Fast-Paced Labor And Delivery Unit. They Must Be Able To Manage Multiple Tasks, Such As Answering Phone Calls, Scheduling Appointments, And Maintaining Patient Records, Simultaneously.
Computer Proficiency: Tenet Healthcare Utilizes Electronic Health Records (Ehr) Systems, Making Computer Proficiency A Critical Qualification For Unit Secretaries. They Must Be Able To Navigate And Input Data Into These Systems Accurately And Efficiently.
Interpersonal And Communication Skills: Unit Secretaries In Labor And Delivery Must Have Excellent Communication Skills To Effectively Interact With Patients, Families, And Medical Staff. They Must Be Able To Communicate Sensitive And Confidential Information With Discretion And Empathy.
