- Accurately record and maintain patient data related to cancer diagnosis, treatment, and outcomes according to established guidelines and standards.
- Utilize medical terminology and coding systems to ensure accurate and consistent documentation.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to ensure timely and complete documentation of patient data.
- Conduct regular audits and quality checks of patient data to ensure accuracy and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Serve as a resource for healthcare providers and other staff regarding cancer data collection and reporting.
- Participate in tumor board meetings and other multidisciplinary team meetings to review and discuss patient cases.
- Keep up-to-date with changes in cancer registry standards, guidelines, and regulations.
- Work closely with the cancer committee and other departments to collect and report cancer data for research and quality improvement purposes.
- Maintain confidentiality and integrity of patient information in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
- Collaborate with IT and other departments to ensure the accuracy and completeness of electronic health records related to cancer data.
- Participate in training and educational programs to maintain and improve knowledge and skills related to cancer registry.
- Assist in the development and implementation of policies and procedures related to cancer data collection, documentation, and reporting.
- Provide support and guidance to junior staff members and assist in their training and development.
- Serve as a liaison between the healthcare facility and external agencies regarding cancer data reporting.
- Actively participate in the facility's quality improvement initiatives related to cancer care and patient outcomes.
Bachelor's Degree In Health Information Management Or Related Field.
Certified Tumor Registrar (Ctr) Credential From The National Cancer Registrars Association (Ncra).
Minimum Of 3 Years Of Experience In Cancer Registry, Preferably In A Hospital Setting.
Strong Knowledge Of Icd-O Coding, Abstracting, And Data Collection For Cancer Cases.
Experience With Cancer Registry Software, Such As Elekta's Mosaiq Or C/Net's Oncology Data Management System.
