Conduct preoperative testing and assessments to ensure patients are ready for surgery.
Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to develop a comprehensive pre-op plan for each patient.
Educate patients about their upcoming surgery and address any concerns or questions they may have.
Monitor and record vital signs, medical history, and other relevant information during pre-op testing.
Administer medications and treatments as ordered by physicians.
Ensure all necessary equipment and supplies are available and in working order for pre-op procedures.
Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of all pre-op testing and assessments.
Communicate any changes in patient condition or concerns to the surgical team.
Provide emotional support to patients and their families during the pre-op process.
Stay current with industry advancements and best practices related to pre-op testing.
Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures, as well as state and federal regulations.
Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings to discuss patient care and treatment plans.
Foster a positive and collaborative work environment, promoting teamwork and open communication.
Ensure patient confidentiality and privacy at all times.
Continuously evaluate and improve pre-op processes to ensure the highest level of patient care.

Job Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree In Nursing: A Minimum Of A Bachelor's Degree In Nursing Is Typically Required For A Registered Nurse Preop Testing Position At Tenet Healthcare. This Education Provides A Strong Foundation In Nursing Principles And Clinical Skills Necessary For The Role.
Active Rn License: Candidates Must Have An Active And Unrestricted Registered Nurse (Rn) License In The State Where They Will Be Working. This Ensures That The Candidate Meets The Minimum Requirements For Nursing Practice And Is Compliant With State Regulations.
Bls And Acls Certification: Basic Life Support (Bls) And Advanced Cardiac Life Support (Acls) Certifications Are Typically Required For A Preop Testing Rn Position. These Certifications Demonstrate The Candidate's Knowledge And Skills In Emergency Situations And Are Necessary For Providing Safe And Effective Patient Care.
Previous Experience In Preop/Perioperative Nursing: Experience In Preop/Perioperative Nursing Is Highly Preferred For This Role. This Experience Provides The Candidate With A Strong Understanding Of Preoperative Assessment, Patient Preparation, And Postoperative Care, Which Are Essential For This Position.
Excellent Communication And Critical Thinking Skills: Strong Communication Skills Are Essential For A Preop Testing Rn As They Will Be Interacting With Patients, Physicians, And Other Healthcare Professionals. Critical Thinking Skills Are Also Necessary For Assessing Patient Needs And Making Quick And Accurate Decisions In A Fast-Paced Environment.
