Monitor and interpret patient cardiac rhythms using specialized equipment and software.
Notify medical staff of any abnormalities or changes in patient cardiac rhythms.
Maintain accurate and detailed records of patient cardiac rhythms and any interventions taken.
Collaborate with healthcare team to ensure timely and appropriate interventions for patients with abnormal cardiac rhythms.
Follow established protocols and procedures for monitoring and responding to cardiac alarms.
Troubleshoot technical issues with monitoring equipment and escalate to appropriate personnel as needed.
Continuously monitor multiple patients simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations.
Provide support and assistance to medical staff during emergency situations.
Stay up-to-date with advancements in technology and techniques related to cardiac monitoring.
Participate in quality improvement initiatives and ensure compliance with established standards and protocols.
Demonstrate compassion and empathy towards patients and their families.
Communicate effectively with medical staff, patients, and their families regarding patient cardiac rhythms.

Job Qualifications

Completion Of A Monitoring Technician Training Program: Candidates Should Have Completed A Formal Training Program In Monitoring Technology, Which Typically Includes Coursework In Electrocardiography (Ekg/Ecg) Interpretation, Cardiac Arrhythmia Recognition, And Basic Cardiac Anatomy And Physiology.
Certification As A Certified Cardiographic Technician (Cct) Or Certified Rhythm Analysis Technician (Crat): Many Employers, Including Tenet Healthcare, Require Certification From The Cardiovascular Credentialing International (Cci) As A Cct Or Crat.
Proficiency In Operating Monitoring Equipment And Software: Candidates Should Be Familiar With A Variety Of Monitoring Equipment, Including Ekg Machines And Telemetry Systems, As Well As Have Experience Using Computer Programs To Analyze And Interpret Cardiac Rhythms.
Strong Communication And Multitasking Skills: Monitor Technicians Are Responsible For Monitoring And Reporting Changes In Patient Heart Rhythms, So Excellent Communication Skills Are Essential. They Should Also Be Able To Multitask, As They May Be Responsible For Monitoring Multiple Patients Simultaneously.
Knowledge Of Medical Terminology And Patient Care: A Thorough Understanding Of Medical Terminology And Patient Care Is Crucial For A Monitor Technician. They Must Be Able To Accurately Document And Report Changes In Patient Status, As Well As Provide Basic Care And Support To Patients Undergoing Cardiac Monitoring.
