Perform molecular testing: Conduct complex molecular testing procedures on patient samples to detect and diagnose diseases using state-of-the-art technology.
Analyze data: Accurately analyze and interpret test results, ensuring precision and attention to detail to provide reliable and accurate information to healthcare providers.
Maintain equipment: Ensure all laboratory equipment is properly maintained and calibrated, troubleshoot any issues that may arise, and report any malfunctions to the appropriate personnel.
Follow laboratory protocols: Adhere to established laboratory protocols and procedures, including safety regulations, to maintain a controlled and organized work environment.
Collaborate with team members: Work closely with other members of the Molecular Micro Lab team to coordinate testing, troubleshoot problems, and ensure efficient workflow.
Stay current on industry developments: Stay up-to-date on the latest advancements in molecular biology and laboratory techniques to continuously improve processes and stay at the forefront of the field.
Quality control: Perform quality control measures to ensure accuracy and precision of test results and report any discrepancies or issues to the laboratory supervisor.
Document and maintain records: Accurately document all test results and maintain organized records of all laboratory procedures and activities.
Adhere to regulatory standards: Comply with all regulatory standards and guidelines, including HIPAA, CLIA, and OSHA, to maintain a safe and compliant laboratory environment.
Participate in professional development: Seek out opportunities for professional development and continuous learning to enhance skills and knowledge in the field of molecular technology.

Job Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree In Medical Technology Or Related Field: A Minimum Of A Bachelor's Degree In Medical Technology, Microbiology, Or Molecular Biology Is Typically Required For This Position. This Ensures That The Candidate Has A Strong Foundation In The Scientific Principles And Laboratory Techniques Necessary For A Molecular Micro Lab.
Certification As A Medical Technologist (Mt): Most Employers Prefer Candidates Who Have Obtained Certification As A Medical Technologist From A Recognized Organization Such As The American Society For Clinical Pathology (Ascp) Or The American Medical Technologists (Amt). This Certification Demonstrates The Candidate's Knowledge And Proficiency In The Field Of Medical Technology.
Experience In Molecular Microbiology: Candidates Should Have Prior Experience Working In A Molecular Microbiology Laboratory, Preferably In A Hospital Or Clinical Setting. This Experience Should Include Performing Various Molecular Tests, Such As Pcr, Dna Sequencing, And Genetic Analysis, And Interpreting The Results Accurately.
Strong Knowledge Of Laboratory Safety And Quality Control: Medical Technologists Working In A Molecular Micro Lab Must Have A Thorough Understanding Of Laboratory Safety Protocols And Quality Control Measures. They Should Be Able To Follow Established Procedures And Maintain A High Level Of Accuracy And Precision While Handling Sensitive Samples.
Excellent Communication And Teamwork Skills: As Part Of A Larger Healthcare Team, Medical Technologists Must Have Strong Communication And Teamwork Skills. They Should Be Able To Effectively Collaborate With Other Healthcare Professionals, Such As Physicians And Nurses, And Communicate Test Results In A Clear And Concise Manner. Additionally, Strong Organizational Skills And Attention To Detail Are Essential For This Role.
