  1. Perform histological procedures accurately and efficiently, following established protocols and procedures.
  2. Prepare and process tissue samples for microscopic examination, including embedding, sectioning, staining, and mounting.
  3. Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, ensuring proper functioning and troubleshooting any issues that may arise.
  4. Maintain accurate records of all procedures and results, adhering to regulatory requirements and quality control standards.
  5. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure timely and accurate diagnosis and treatment of patients.
  6. Keep up-to-date with new techniques and technologies in the field of histology, and implement them into daily practice as appropriate.
  7. Adhere to strict safety protocols and procedures, ensuring a safe working environment for yourself and others.
  8. Assist in the training and supervision of new technicians, ensuring they are competent and knowledgeable in all aspects of the job.
  9. Communicate effectively and professionally with patients, colleagues, and other healthcare professionals.
  10. Maintain a high level of professionalism and ethical standards in all interactions and activities.
  11. Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the overall success of the laboratory and organization.
  12. Demonstrate a strong understanding of and commitment to patient privacy and confidentiality.
  13. Perform other related duties as assigned by supervisors.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Histotechnology Or A Related Field: A Strong Foundation In Histotechnology Is Essential For This Role, And A Bachelor's Degree In This Field Ensures A Thorough Understanding Of The Principles And Techniques Involved.

  • Certification As A Histotechnician (Ht) Or Histotechnologist (Htl): Having A Nationally Recognized Certification From Organizations Such As The American Society For Clinical Pathology (Ascp) Demonstrates A High Level Of Knowledge And Expertise In The Field.

  • Experience Working In A Clinical Laboratory Setting: Previous Experience In A Clinical Laboratory, Particularly In Histology, Is Highly Desirable For This Role. It Shows That The Candidate Is Familiar With The Equipment, Procedures, And Safety Protocols Used In Such Settings.

  • Attention To Detail And Manual Dexterity: Histology Technicians Must Have Exceptional Attention To Detail To Accurately Prepare Tissue Samples And Perform Tests. They Also Need Good Manual Dexterity To Handle Delicate Instruments And Tissues.

  • Knowledge Of Laboratory Safety Protocols: As Histology Technicians Work With Potentially Hazardous Chemicals And Specimens, It Is Crucial For Them To Have A Comprehensive Understanding Of Laboratory Safety Protocols And Procedures To Ensure The Health And Safety Of Themselves And Others In The Lab.
