Perform histology procedures including tissue processing, embedding, sectioning, and staining.
Operate and maintain laboratory equipment and ensure proper functioning.
Prepare and maintain accurate records of specimens and test results.
Perform quality control procedures to ensure accuracy and precision of results.
Collaborate with pathologists and other healthcare professionals to provide accurate and timely diagnoses.
Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
Keep up-to-date with new techniques and technologies in histology.
Troubleshoot technical issues and provide solutions.
Assist with training and mentoring new histology technicians.
Communicate effectively with team members and other departments.
Follow standard operating procedures and maintain compliance with regulatory guidelines.
Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the overall success of the laboratory.
Maintain confidentiality of patient information and adhere to ethical standards.
Handle and dispose of hazardous materials in accordance with safety regulations.

Job Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree In Histotechnology Or Related Field: Tenet Healthcare Requires Candidates For The Histology Technician Position To Have A Minimum Of A Bachelor's Degree In Histotechnology Or A Related Field. This Degree Provides The Necessary Knowledge And Skills To Perform The Duties Of A Histology Technician.
Certification From The American Society For Clinical Pathology (Ascp): Tenet Healthcare Prefers Candidates Who Have Obtained Certification From The Ascp As A Histotechnician (Ht) Or Histotechnologist (Htl). This Certification Demonstrates A High Level Of Competency And Expertise In The Field Of Histology.
Previous Experience In A Clinical Laboratory Setting: Tenet Healthcare Seeks Candidates With Previous Experience Working In A Clinical Laboratory Setting. This Experience Provides A Solid Foundation In Laboratory Procedures And Techniques, As Well As Familiarity With Laboratory Equipment And Safety Protocols.
Knowledge Of Histology Equipment And Procedures: Candidates For The Histology Technician Position At Tenet Healthcare Must Have A Strong Understanding Of Histology Equipment And Procedures. This Includes Experience With Microtomy, Tissue Processing, Staining Techniques, And Quality Control Procedures.
Attention To Detail And Strong Organizational Skills: Histology Technicians At Tenet Healthcare Are Responsible For Accurately Processing And Analyzing Patient Samples.
