
Histology Technician

- Conduct histology procedures: Perform various histology techniques, including tissue processing, embedding, microtomy, staining, and mounting, in accordance with established protocols and quality standards.
- Prepare tissue samples: Receive and log in tissue samples, label and track specimens accurately, and prepare them for analysis by applying appropriate techniques and methods.
- Operate laboratory equipment: Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, such as microscopes, tissue processors, embedding centers, and automated staining instruments, ensuring accurate and timely results.
- Quality control: Conduct quality control checks and troubleshoot issues with equipment or samples to ensure accurate and reliable results.
- Maintain accurate records: Record all procedures, results, and observations in laboratory information systems or other designated databases, ensuring proper documentation and compliance with regulatory standards.
- Collaborate with team members: Communicate and collaborate with pathologists, laboratory personnel, and other healthcare professionals to provide efficient and effective patient care.
- Follow safety protocols: Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures to minimize exposure to hazardous materials and maintain a safe working environment.
- Stay updated with industry developments: Keep up-to-date with current trends, techniques, and technologies in the field of histology to continuously improve processes and procedures.
- Train new employees: Assist in training and mentoring new laboratory staff to ensure their understanding of histology techniques and procedures.
- Uphold organizational values: Represent the organization's values of integrity, compassion, and excellence in all interactions with patients, colleagues, and other stakeholders.
Bachelor's Degree In Histology, Medical Technology, Or A Related Field.
Certification As A Histology Technician (Ht) Or Histotechnologist (Htl) By The American Society For Clinical Pathology (Ascp).
Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience Working In A Clinical Or Hospital Laboratory Setting.
Proficiency In Operating And Maintaining Histology Laboratory Equipment And Instruments.
Strong Understanding Of Histological Techniques, Staining Procedures, And Quality Control Measures.
