Job Description

As a Child Life Specialist, you will play a crucial role in helping children cope with the hospital experience through play, education, and emotional support.   1. Provide emotional and psychological support to pediatric patients and their families during their hospital stay.
  2. Utilize child development knowledge to create and implement age-appropriate activities and interventions to help children cope with medical procedures and hospitalization.
  3. Collaborate with healthcare team members to develop individualized care plans for pediatric patients.
  4. Organize and facilitate play sessions and activities to promote normalcy and reduce anxiety for pediatric patients.
  5. Educate and prepare children for medical procedures in a developmentally appropriate manner.
  6. Build relationships with patients and their families to establish trust and rapport.
  7. Document and maintain accurate records of patient interactions and progress.
  8. Serve as a liaison between patients, families, and healthcare staff to ensure the best possible care for pediatric patients.
  9. Stay up-to-date with child life best practices and techniques through ongoing education and training.
  10. Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings to discuss patient care and provide input from a child life perspective.
  11. Collaborate with community organizations and volunteers to provide additional resources and support for pediatric patients.
  12. Adhere to the ethical and professional standards set by the Association of Child Life Professionals.
  13. Maintain a safe and clean play environment for children in the hospital.
  14. Communicate effectively with children of all ages and developmental stages.
  15. Uphold the mission and values of Tenet Healthcare and represent the organization in a positive and professional manner.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Child Life, Child Development, Psychology, Or Related Field.

  • Certification As A Child Life Specialist Through The Child Life Council.

  • Minimum Of 2 Years Experience Working With Children In A Healthcare Setting.

  • Strong Understanding Of Child Development And Family-Centered Care Principles.

  • Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills, With The Ability To Work Collaboratively With Healthcare Teams And Families.
