- Plan, implement, and evaluate child life programs and activities to promote emotional and psychological well-being of pediatric patients.
- Provide emotional support and education to children and families to help them cope with medical procedures and hospitalization.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to develop individualized care plans for pediatric patients.
- Create a child-friendly and therapeutic environment through the use of play, art, music, and other activities.
- Assess the developmental needs of pediatric patients and provide appropriate interventions and resources.
- Communicate with parents, caregivers, and medical staff to provide updates on the child's progress and share strategies for supporting the child's emotional well-being.
- Conduct group and one-on-one sessions with pediatric patients to address specific emotional and developmental needs.
- Document and maintain accurate records of child life interventions and progress.
- Participate in continuing education and professional development opportunities to stay current on best practices in child life.
- Serve as an advocate for pediatric patients and their families, ensuring their needs and concerns are addressed.
- Collaborate with community organizations and volunteers to provide additional support and resources for pediatric patients and their families.
- Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures, as well as ethical and legal standards in child life practice.
Bachelor's Or Master's Degree In Child Life, Child Development, Or A Related Field.
Completion Of A Child Life Internship Or Practicum, Preferably In A Healthcare Setting.
Certification As A Certified Child Life Specialist (Ccls) Through The Association Of Child Life Professionals (Aclp).
Minimum Of 1-2 Years Of Experience Working As A Child Life Specialist In A Healthcare Setting.
Strong Knowledge And Understanding Of Child Development, Coping Techniques, And Play Therapy To Support Children And Families In A Medical Setting.
