Assist surgeons during surgical procedures by setting up and maintaining sterile fields, passing instruments and supplies, and anticipating the needs of the surgeon.
Ensure the safety and well-being of patients by following strict infection control protocols and maintaining a sterile environment in the operating room.
Prepare operating rooms for surgery by setting up surgical equipment, ensuring proper functioning of equipment, and sterilizing instruments.
Collaborate with nurses and other healthcare professionals to ensure efficient and effective patient care during surgical procedures.
Monitor and document patient vital signs before, during, and after surgery to identify and report any changes or concerns.
Maintain inventory of surgical supplies and equipment, restocking as needed to ensure availability for procedures.
Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures, as well as state and federal regulations, to ensure compliance and patient safety.
Continuously develop and maintain knowledge of surgical procedures and techniques, as well as new technology and equipment.
Communicate effectively with patients and their families, providing education and support before and after surgery.
Participate in on-call rotations and be available for emergency surgeries as needed.

Job Qualifications

Completion Of An Accredited Surgical Technologist Program: A Certified Surgical Technician At Tenet Healthcare Must Have Completed A Formal Education Program In Surgical Technology From An Accredited Institution. This Ensures That The Candidate Has Received Proper Training In Surgical Procedures, Sterilization Techniques, And Patient Care.
National Certification: Tenet Healthcare Requires All Certified Surgical Technicians To Hold A National Certification Through Either The National Board Of Surgical Technology And Surgical Assisting (Nbstsa) Or The National Center For Competency Testing (Ncct). This Ensures That The Technician Has Met National Standards For Knowledge And Competency In The Field.
Experience In A Hospital Or Surgical Setting: Candidates For A Certified Surgical Technician Position At Tenet Healthcare Should Have At Least 1-2 Years Of Experience Working In A Hospital Or Surgical Setting. This Experience Provides The Necessary Skills And Knowledge To Thrive In A Fast-Paced Surgical Environment.
Knowledge Of Surgical Equipment And Procedures: A Strong Understanding Of Surgical Instruments, Equipment, And Procedures Is Crucial For A Certified Surgical Technician At Tenet Healthcare. This Includes Knowledge Of Sterile Techniques, Infection Control, And Surgical Setup And Breakdown.
Excellent Communication And Teamwork Skills: Working In Surgery Requires Strong Communication And Teamwork Skills.
