- Develop and implement comprehensive public relations strategies to promote Temple University's academic and research initiatives.
- Serve as the main point of contact for media inquiries and manage all media relations activities.
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with key media outlets and stakeholders to effectively communicate the university's message.
- Collaborate with various departments and stakeholders to identify newsworthy stories and pitch them to the media.
- Write and distribute press releases, media alerts, and other materials to effectively promote the university's initiatives.
- Monitor media coverage and provide timely and accurate reports to university leadership.
- Lead crisis communications efforts and develop messaging to mitigate potential negative publicity.
- Develop and maintain a strong understanding of the higher education landscape, including current trends and issues, to inform public relations strategies.
- Plan and execute special events and media opportunities to enhance the university's visibility and reputation.
- Supervise and mentor junior public relations staff members.
- Collaborate with marketing and communications teams to ensure a cohesive and consistent brand message.
- Stay up-to-date with industry best practices and trends in public relations to continuously improve and innovate the university's approach.
- Represent Temple University at various events and conferences to build relationships and promote the university's brand.
- Monitor and track the success of public relations efforts and provide regular reports to university leadership.
- Serve as a spokesperson for the university and effectively communicate its mission, values, and achievements to the public.
Bachelor's Or Master's Degree In Public Relations, Communications, Or Related Field.
Minimum Of 5 Years Of Experience In Public Relations, Preferably In An Academic Or Research Setting.
Strong Understanding Of Media Relations And Ability To Cultivate Relationships With Key Journalists And Media Outlets.
Excellent Written And Verbal Communication Skills, With Experience In Drafting Press Releases, Media Pitches, And Other Communication Materials.
Demonstrated Ability To Develop And Execute Strategic Public Relations Plans, Including Crisis Communications, In A Fast-Paced And Dynamic Environment.
