  1. Develop and implement radiation safety policies and procedures in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  2. Conduct regular inspections and audits of all radiation-related facilities and equipment to ensure compliance with safety standards.
  3. Provide training and education to faculty, staff, and students on radiation safety protocols and procedures.
  4. Maintain accurate records of all radiation sources and activities on campus.
  5. Collaborate with other departments and agencies to ensure proper disposal of radioactive materials.
  6. Investigate and report any incidents or accidents involving radiation and provide recommendations for prevention.
  7. Stay current with industry trends and advancements in radiation safety and make recommendations for improvements to existing protocols.
  8. Serve as a resource for any radiation-related concerns or questions from faculty, staff, and students.
  9. Conduct risk assessments and develop emergency response plans for potential radiation incidents.
  10. Monitor and maintain radiation detection equipment and ensure its proper functioning.
  11. Coordinate with external agencies for licensing and regulatory compliance.
  12. Stay updated on relevant laws and regulations and ensure compliance with all applicable requirements.
  13. Participate in departmental and university-wide safety committees and initiatives.
  14. Maintain a safe and organized work environment in accordance with university policies and procedures.
  15. Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In A Related Field Such As Health Physics, Radiation Health, Or Nuclear Engineering.

  • Certification As A Radiation Safety Officer (Rso) Or Certified Health Physicist (Chp).

  • Minimum Of 3-5 Years Of Experience Working In Radiation Safety, Preferably In A University Or Research Setting.

  • In-Depth Knowledge Of Federal, State, And Local Regulations Pertaining To Radiation Safety, Including Nrc, Epa, And Osha Regulations.

  • Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills, With The Ability To Effectively Train And Educate Others On Radiation Safety Protocols And Procedures.
