
Assistant Director, Library Technology

- Oversee and manage all aspects of the library's technology infrastructure, including hardware, software, and systems.
- Develop and implement strategies to enhance the library's technology services, keeping up-to-date with the latest advancements in information technology.
- Collaborate with library staff, faculty, and students to understand their technology needs and provide appropriate solutions.
- Train and supervise a team of technology support staff, ensuring they are equipped to provide efficient and effective services to library users.
- Manage the library's technology budget, making strategic decisions to optimize resources and stay within budget.
- Stay informed about current trends and best practices in library technology, and make recommendations for improvements and upgrades to the library's technology infrastructure.
- Collaborate with other departments and university IT services to integrate library technology with other campus systems.
- Ensure the security and privacy of library technology systems and data, implementing measures to protect against cyber threats and data breaches.
- Develop and maintain relationships with technology vendors and negotiate contracts for services and equipment.
- Provide training and support to library staff and users on new technology initiatives and tools.
- Serve as a liaison between the library and the university's technology committees, advocating for the library's technology needs and participating in decision-making processes.
- Monitor and analyze usage data to assess the effectiveness and efficiency of library technology services, and make recommendations for improvements.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current in the field of library technology and bring new ideas and innovations to the library.
- Promote the library's technology resources and services to the campus community through various channels, such as workshops, presentations, and outreach events.
- Uphold the mission and values of Temple University and the library, striving to create an inclusive and welcoming environment for all students and faculty.
A Minimum Of 3-5 Years Of Experience In Library Technology, Preferably In An Academic Library Setting.
A Strong Understanding Of Current And Emerging Library Technologies, Including Integrated Library Systems, Digital Repositories, And Discovery Tools.
Demonstrated Experience In Project Management, Including Planning, Execution, And Evaluation Of Library Technology Initiatives.
Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills, With The Ability To Work Collaboratively With Diverse Stakeholders Such As Librarians, It Professionals, And Faculty.
A Master's Degree In Library And Information Science Or A Related Field, Or A Combination Of Education And Relevant Experience.
