
UNIX Lifecycle Administrator

- Maintain and support the company's UNIX system throughout its entire lifecycle.
- Ensure the availability, performance, and security of the UNIX system.
- Monitor and troubleshoot any issues or errors within the UNIX system.
- Implement and maintain backup and disaster recovery procedures for the UNIX system.
- Install, configure, and update software and applications on the UNIX system.
- Develop and maintain system documentation, including procedures and configurations.
- Collaborate with other team members to ensure seamless integration and functionality of the UNIX system with other systems.
- Stay updated with the latest trends and developments in UNIX technology and make recommendations for improvement.
- Work closely with vendors and external partners to resolve any technical issues related to the UNIX system.
- Provide 24/7 on-call support for critical issues and participate in scheduled maintenance activities.
- Train and mentor junior team members on UNIX administration.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures and security standards.
- Liaise with other departments to understand their requirements and provide solutions using the UNIX system.
- Continuously monitor system performance and make necessary changes to optimize performance.
- Participate in project planning and implementation related to the UNIX system.
- Identify, evaluate and implement new tools and technologies to enhance the efficiency and functionality of the UNIX system.
- Communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders to provide regular updates on system status and progress.
- Proactively identify potential risks and develop contingency plans.
- Collaborate with other teams to ensure business continuity in case of any system failures.
- Adhere to industry best practices and standards for UNIX administration.
In-Depth Knowledge Of Unix Operating Systems: The Ideal Candidate Should Possess A Strong Understanding Of Unix Operating Systems Such As Solaris, Aix, And Red Hat Linux. This Includes Proficiency In System Administration, Troubleshooting, And Maintenance Tasks.
Experience With Unix Lifecycle Management Tools: State Street May Require Candidates To Have Experience Working With Tools Such As Puppet, Ansible, Or Chef For Automating Configuration And Deployment Of Unix Systems. Knowledge Of Version Control Systems Like Git Is Also Beneficial.
Familiarity With Virtualization And Cloud Technologies: As More Organizations Move Towards Virtualized And Cloud Environments, A Unix Lifecycle Administrator Should Have Experience With Virtualization Technologies Like Vmware Or Openstack. Knowledge Of Cloud Platforms Such As Aws Or Azure Is Also Desirable.
Strong Scripting And Automation Skills: A Key Responsibility Of A Unix Lifecycle Administrator Is To Automate Routine Tasks To Improve Efficiency And Reduce Manual Errors. Proficiency In Scripting Languages Such As Shell, Python, Or Perl Is Highly Valued.
Security And Compliance Knowledge: With Sensitive Financial Data Being Stored On Unix Systems, It Is Crucial For A Lifecycle Administrator To Have A Strong Understanding Of Security Best Practices And Compliance Regulations Such As Pci-Dss And Hipaa. Experience In Implementing Security Controls And Conducting Vulnerability Assessments Is A Plus.
