Job Description

Welcome to the State of Virginia Substance Misuse Coordinator position! We are seeking a dedicated and experienced individual to join our team in the fight against substance misuse in our state. As a Substance Misuse Coordinator, you will play a vital role in developing and implementing strategies to prevent and treat substance use disorders. We are looking for someone who is passionate about making a positive impact in their community and has the necessary qualifications to excel in this role.   1. Develop and implement strategies to prevent substance misuse in the state of Virginia.
  2. Collaborate with various organizations and agencies to create a comprehensive approach to addressing substance use disorders.
  3. Conduct research and gather data to assess the current state of substance misuse and identify areas for improvement.
  4. Educate the community on the risks and consequences of substance misuse and promote prevention efforts.
  5. Coordinate and facilitate training programs for healthcare professionals, law enforcement, and other stakeholders on evidence-based practices for treating substance use disorders.
  6. Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of substance misuse prevention and treatment programs throughout the state.
  7. Serve as a resource and point of contact for individuals seeking help for substance use disorders.
  8. Develop and maintain relationships with community partners, government agencies, and other stakeholders to enhance collaboration and support for substance misuse initiatives.
  9. Stay up-to-date on current trends, research, and best practices in substance misuse prevention and treatment.
  10. Prepare and present reports to state officials and other stakeholders on the progress and impact of substance misuse initiatives.
  11. Cultivate a culture of compassion, understanding, and support for individuals struggling with substance misuse.
  12. Adhere to all state and federal regulations and guidelines related to substance misuse prevention and treatment.
  13. Serve as a role model for ethical and professional behavior in all interactions related to substance misuse initiatives.
  14. Represent the state of Virginia at conferences, meetings, and other events related to substance misuse.
  15. Continuously assess and adjust strategies and initiatives to ensure effectiveness and address emerging issues related to substance misuse.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In A Related Field Such As Social Work, Psychology, Or Public Health.

  • Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience Working In Substance Misuse Prevention, Treatment, Or Recovery Services.

  • Knowledge Of State And Federal Laws, Regulations, And Policies Related To Substance Misuse.

  • Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills, With The Ability To Work Effectively With Individuals From Diverse Backgrounds.

  • Certification In Substance Abuse Counseling Or Prevention, Such As Certified Substance Abuse Counselor (Csac) Or Certified Prevention Specialist (Cps).
