Job Description

We are currently seeking a skilled and compassionate Probation Officer to join our team. As a Probation Officer, you will play a crucial role in helping individuals on probation successfully reintegrate into society.   1. Conduct intake interviews and assessments for individuals on probation, gathering information about their background, risk factors, and treatment needs.
  2. Develop individualized case plans for each probationer, setting goals and outlining steps for achieving them.
  3. Monitor and track probationers' compliance with court-ordered conditions, such as drug testing, community service, and treatment programs.
  4. Meet regularly with probationers to provide support, guidance, and resources to help them succeed in their rehabilitation and reintegration.
  5. Conduct home visits and workplace visits to assess living and working conditions and ensure compliance with probation terms.
  6. Collaborate with other agencies and community resources to provide probationers with necessary services and support.
  7. Maintain accurate and detailed case records, documenting interactions, progress, and any incidents or violations.
  8. Prepare reports and recommendations for court hearings and present evidence in court as needed.
  9. Enforce consequences for probation violations, while also utilizing motivational and behavior change techniques to encourage compliance.
  10. Stay up-to-date on changes in laws, policies, and procedures related to probation and corrections.
  11. Maintain confidentiality and ethical standards in all interactions with clients and colleagues.
  12. Attend trainings and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge in probation and rehabilitation.
  13. Engage in self-care practices to prevent burnout and maintain personal well-being.
  14. Serve as a positive role model and ambassador for the Department of Corrections and its mission to promote rehabilitation and reduce recidivism rates.
  15. Continuously evaluate and assess the effectiveness of probation programs and make recommendations for improvement.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Criminal Justice, Psychology, Or A Related Field.

  • Certification From A Recognized Probation Officer Training Program.

  • Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience Working In The Criminal Justice System Or Related Field.

  • Knowledge Of State And Federal Laws, Regulations, And Guidelines Related To Probation And Parole.

  • Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills, With The Ability To Effectively Work With Diverse Populations.
