- Develop and implement effective forest management plans to ensure the sustainable use and preservation of natural resources in the designated area.
- Conduct regular field assessments and surveys to monitor forest health and identify potential issues or threats.
- Collaborate with various stakeholders, including government agencies, landowners, and community groups, to promote sustainable forestry practices and address concerns related to forest management.
- Provide technical advice and guidance to landowners and other forest stakeholders on best practices for sustainable forest management.
- Coordinate and oversee the work of forestry contractors and other personnel involved in forest management activities.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with state and federal regulations related to forestry management.
- Stay informed about current research and developments in the field of forestry management and integrate new knowledge and techniques into practice.
- Develop and maintain relationships with local communities, organizations, and other stakeholders to foster support and understanding for forest management initiatives.
- Prepare and present reports, proposals, and other relevant information to senior management and government officials.
- Represent the state of Virginia at conferences, workshops, and other events related to forestry management and conservation.
Bachelor's Degree In Forestry Or Related Field From An Accredited University.
Minimum Of 3 Years Of Experience In Forest Management, Preferably In A Supervisory Role.
Knowledge Of State And Federal Laws And Regulations Related To Forestry And Natural Resource Management.
Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills, With The Ability To Collaborate With Diverse Stakeholders Such As Landowners, Government Agencies, And Community Groups.
Strong Analytical And Problem-Solving Skills, With Proficiency In Using Gis And Other Forestry Software Tools.
