
Transportation Technician

- Conduct regular inspections and maintenance of state highways, roads, and bridges to ensure safety and functionality.
- Monitor and report on traffic patterns, road conditions, and any potential hazards.
- Collaborate with engineers and other team members to plan and execute transportation projects.
- Operate and maintain specialized equipment, such as snowplows and road construction machinery.
- Respond to emergency situations, such as accidents or severe weather, and assist with traffic control and clean-up efforts.
- Conduct surveys and collect data to inform decision-making processes.
- Participate in training and professional development opportunities to stay up-to-date with industry standards and best practices.
- Maintain accurate records and reports of work performed.
- Comply with all safety regulations and protocols to ensure a safe working environment.
- Represent the Department of Transportation in a professional and courteous manner when interacting with the public.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to transportation systems.
- Continuously seek out ways to improve efficiency and effectiveness in transportation operations.
- Assist with budget planning and resource allocation for transportation projects.
- Stay informed about state and federal laws, regulations, and policies related to transportation.
- Act as a liaison between the Department of Transportation and local communities, businesses, and government agencies.
- Train and mentor new team members to ensure a high level of skill and knowledge within the department.

- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors or department leadership.
High School Diploma Or Equivalent Education.
Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience In Transportation Or Related Field.
Knowledge Of Traffic Engineering Principles And Practices.
Familiarity With State And Federal Transportation Regulations.
Proficiency In Using Computer Software, Such As Gis And Cad, For Transportation Planning And Analysis.
