  1. Lead and supervise a team of caseworkers in the DCFS Eastern Region to effectively carry out the mission of protecting and supporting vulnerable children and families.
  2. Conduct regular meetings and trainings to ensure caseworkers are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to handle complex cases and provide quality support to families.
  3. Utilize your expertise and experience to guide and mentor caseworkers in making difficult decisions and handling challenging situations.
  4. Maintain a thorough understanding of state laws, policies, and procedures related to child welfare and ensure that all team members are compliant.
  5. Collaborate with other agency departments, community organizations, and stakeholders to develop and implement effective strategies for the prevention and intervention of child abuse and neglect.
  6. Oversee and review case plans, case progress, and documentation to ensure they meet agency standards and are in compliance with state and federal regulations.
  7. Conduct regular assessments and evaluations of caseworker performance and provide feedback, coaching, and support as needed.
  8. Serve as a liaison between the DCFS Eastern Region and other agencies, courts, and community partners to coordinate services and resources for clients and families.
  9. Participate in and lead meetings, committees, and training sessions to stay informed of current research, best practices, and trends in child welfare.
  10. Foster a positive and supportive work environment for caseworkers, promoting teamwork, collaboration, and a shared commitment to the agency's mission.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Social Work Or A Related Field: A Senior Assistant Caseworker Should Have A Strong Educational Background In Social Work Or A Related Field To Understand The Complexities Of The Job And Effectively Support Families In Need.

  • Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience In Child Welfare Or Social Work: Previous Experience In Child Welfare Or Social Work Is Essential For A Senior Assistant Caseworker To Handle The Challenges Of The Job And Make Informed Decisions For The Well-Being Of Children And Families.

  • Knowledge Of State And Federal Child Welfare Laws And Regulations: A Senior Assistant Caseworker Should Have A Thorough Understanding Of State And Federal Laws And Regulations Related To Child Welfare To Ensure Compliance And Provide Appropriate Services To Families.

  • Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills: The Role Of A Senior Assistant Caseworker Involves Working With Diverse Populations And Collaborating With Various Stakeholders.
