The Senate Majority Caucus of the State of Utah is seeking a driven and knowledgeable Legislative Assistant to join our team and help us advance our policy goals. As a Legislative Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting our legislators in developing and passing laws that positively impact our community.   1. Conduct research on legislative issues and provide comprehensive analysis to support decision making.
  2. Monitor and track legislative bills and proposals, including potential impacts on our policy goals.
  3. Draft and review legislative documents, such as bill summaries, memorandums, and testimony.
  4. Maintain strong relationships and communication with legislators and their staff to advocate for our policy goals.
  5. Coordinate meetings and events related to legislative activities, including scheduling, logistics, and follow-up.
  6. Assist in the development of legislative strategies and messaging to effectively communicate our priorities.
  7. Serve as a liaison between the Senate Majority Caucus and external stakeholders, including community organizations and lobbyists.
  8. Prepare talking points and briefing materials for legislators to use in committee hearings and meetings.
  9. Provide administrative support, such as managing schedules, organizing files, and handling correspondence.
  10. Stay up-to-date on current events and political developments to inform our legislative efforts.
  11. Collaborate with team members to ensure a cohesive and coordinated approach to advancing our policy goals.
  12. Uphold our values and maintain a high level of professionalism in all interactions with internal and external stakeholders.
  13. Assist in budget planning and management related to legislative activities.
  14. Identify and recommend opportunities for legislative reform and improvement.
  15. Adapt to changing priorities and handle multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced legislative environment.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Political Science, Public Policy, Or A Related Field.

  • Previous Experience Working In A Legislative Environment, Preferably At The State Level.

  • Strong Understanding Of The Legislative Process And Ability To Analyze And Track Legislation.

  • Excellent Written And Verbal Communication Skills, Including Experience Drafting Legislative Documents And Briefing Materials.

  • Ability To Work Independently And Collaboratively In A Fast-Paced, Deadline-Driven Environment.
