As a Psychiatrist, you will play a vital role in providing mental health care to incarcerated individuals within our correctional facilities. We are seeking a highly qualified and compassionate individual with a passion for serving vulnerable populations. The ideal candidate will possess a Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree and be licensed to practice in the state of Utah. In addition, the candidate must have completed a residency in psychiatry and be board certified or eligible for board certification. - Conduct initial psychiatric assessments and ongoing evaluations of incarcerated individuals to determine mental health needs and develop treatment plans.
- Provide individual and group therapy to address mental health concerns and promote overall well-being.
- Prescribe and monitor psychiatric medications as needed.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive and coordinated care for incarcerated individuals.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records in accordance with state and federal regulations.
- Stay current on new developments and research in the field of psychiatry to continuously improve treatment approaches.
- Participate in interdisciplinary meetings and case reviews to discuss treatment progress and make appropriate adjustments.
- Educate and provide guidance to other healthcare staff on mental health issues and treatment options.
- Communicate effectively with incarcerated individuals, their families, and external agencies.
- Adhere to ethical and professional standards in all aspects of job responsibilities.
- Comply with all safety and security protocols within the correctional facility.
- Maintain confidentiality of all sensitive information related to incarcerated individuals.
- Collaborate with community providers to ensure continuity of care for incarcerated individuals upon release.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance the delivery of mental health services within the correctional facility.
- Attend relevant trainings and conferences to maintain licensure and stay up-to-date on best practices in the field of psychiatry.
Medical Degree: A Psychiatrist, Correctional Health Services Must Possess A Medical Degree From An Accredited University In Order To Diagnose And Treat Mental Health Disorders.
Board Certification: In Addition To A Medical Degree, The Candidate Must Also Be Board Certified In Psychiatry By The American Board Of Psychiatry And Neurology.
Experience In Correctional Health: The Ideal Candidate Should Have Experience In Providing Mental Health Care To Incarcerated Individuals And Be Knowledgeable About The Unique Challenges And Needs Of This Patient Population.
State Licensure: A Valid And Unrestricted License To Practice Medicine In The State Of Utah Is Required For This Position.
Strong Interpersonal Skills: As A Psychiatrist In A Correctional Health Setting, The Candidate Must Have Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills In Order To Effectively Work With Both Inmates And Correctional Staff.
