Payroll Specialist

1. Process payroll for all state employees in a timely and accurate manner.
2. Monitor and review employee timecards and ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.
3. Maintain and update employee payroll records, including salary changes, tax withholdings, and benefits deductions.
4. Collaborate with HR and other departments to ensure accurate and timely onboarding and offboarding of employees.
5. Calculate and process deductions such as taxes, benefits, and garnishments.
6. Resolve any discrepancies or issues related to employee pay, including researching and correcting errors.
7. Stay up to date on all state and federal payroll laws and regulations, and ensure compliance in all payroll processes.
8. Generate various payroll reports and distribute them to relevant parties.
9. Respond promptly and professionally to employee inquiries and concerns regarding payroll.
10. Work with external vendors, such as payroll service providers, to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll.
11. Participate in payroll audits and provide necessary documentation and support.
12. Continuously identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy in payroll processing.
13. Train and mentor new payroll team members as needed.
14. Maintain confidentiality of all payroll information and adhere to data privacy and security protocols.
15. Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
