Job Description

  1. Provide comprehensive assistance in implementing occupational therapy treatment plans for patients.
  2. Collaborate with occupational therapists to develop individualized treatment plans based on patient evaluations.
  3. Monitor and document patient progress and communicate updates to the supervising occupational therapist.
  4. Utilize a variety of treatment techniques and modalities to assist patients in achieving their therapy goals.
  5. Educate patients and their families on proper techniques and exercises to promote independent functioning.
  6. Assist in maintaining a safe and therapeutic environment for patients, following all safety protocols and procedures.
  7. Communicate effectively with other healthcare professionals and interdisciplinary team members to ensure coordinated and comprehensive care for patients.
  8. Stay up-to-date on current research and trends in occupational therapy, and implement evidence-based practices in patient care.
  9. Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient treatment and progress in accordance with hospital and state regulations.
  10. Demonstrate a commitment to providing compassionate and patient-centered care to individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  11. Uphold professional and ethical standards in all interactions with patients, their families, and other healthcare professionals.
  12. Actively participate in team meetings, trainings, and other professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.
  13. Adhere to all hospital policies, procedures, and protocols, including infection control and safety regulations.
  14. Maintain confidentiality of patient information and follow all HIPAA guidelines.
  15. Continuously strive to improve patient outcomes and contribute to the overall success of the occupational therapy department at the Utah State Hospital.

Job Qualifications
  • Associate's Degree In Occupational Therapy Assistant From An Accredited Program.

  • Current Licensure As An Occupational Therapy Assistant In The State Of Utah.

  • Minimum Of 1 Year Experience In A Clinical Setting, Preferably In A Hospital Or Rehabilitation Facility.

  • Knowledge And Understanding Of State And Federal Regulations Related To Occupational Therapy.

  • Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills, With The Ability To Work Effectively With Patients, Families, And Interdisciplinary Teams.
