Job Description

Are you passionate about supporting individuals with hearing impairments? Do you have experience working with children and adolescents in educational settings? If so, the role of Intervener at the Utah Schools for the Deaf and Blind (USDB) may be the perfect fit for you. As an Intervener, you will have the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of students with hearing impairments by providing one-on-one support and fostering their academic and social growth. We are looking for individuals who possess a strong understanding of American Sign Language and have a genuine desire to empower and advocate for students with hearing impairments.   1. Provide one-on-one support to students with hearing impairments in both academic and social settings.
  2. Foster the academic and social growth of students with hearing impairments.
  3. Use American Sign Language to communicate effectively with students.
  4. Develop individualized intervention plans for students with hearing impairments.
  5. Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other professionals to ensure the best support for students.
  6. Advocate for students with hearing impairments and their needs.
  7. Create a positive and inclusive learning environment for students with hearing impairments.
  8. Implement assistive technology and other tools to support students' learning.
  9. Monitor and track students' progress and provide feedback to teachers and parents.
  10. Stay updated on current research, trends, and best practices in working with individuals with hearing impairments.
  11. Attend training and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.
  12. Maintain accurate records and documentation of interventions and progress.
  13. Maintain a safe and secure environment for students.
  14. Uphold the values and mission of the Utah Schools for the Deaf and Blind (USDB).
  15. Serve as a role model for students and promote a positive attitude towards hearing impairments.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Education, Special Education, Deaf Education, Or Related Field

  • Completed Training In American Sign Language (Asl) And Knowledge Of Deaf Culture

  • Experience Working With Individuals Who Are Deaf Or Hard Of Hearing, Preferably In An Educational Setting

  • Knowledge Of Individualized Education Programs (Ieps) And Special Education Laws And Regulations

  • Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills, With The Ability To Work Collaboratively With Students, Families, And School Staff.
