Job Description

Are you an experienced photographer with a passion for capturing the perfect shot? Do you have an eye for detail and a creative flair? The State of Utah is seeking a skilled General Session Photographer to join our team and document the legislative sessions of our state government. As the official photographer, you will play a crucial role in preserving the history and progress of Utah's legislative process. We are looking for a talented individual who is able to work in a fast-paced environment, has excellent communication skills, and can deliver high-quality photographs that tell a story.   1. Capture high-quality photographs of legislative sessions, events, and activities related to the state government.
  2. Utilize technical skills and knowledge of photography to capture the perfect shot, paying attention to lighting, composition, and other elements.
  3. Edit and enhance photographs to ensure they accurately represent the legislative process and tell a story.
  4. Work closely with other members of the team to plan and execute photo shoots and coordinate schedules.
  5. Maintain and organize a digital library of photographs for archival and future use.
  6. Communicate effectively with legislators, staff, and other stakeholders to understand their needs and capture the necessary photographs.
  7. Stay up-to-date on current events and legislative issues to ensure accurate and relevant photography.
  8. Follow all state guidelines and policies for photography and copyright laws.
  9. Remain flexible and adaptable to changing schedules and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  10. Represent the state government in a professional and respectful manner at all times.
  11. Collaborate with other departments and agencies to provide photography services as needed.
  12. Continuously seek opportunities to improve and enhance photography techniques and skills.
  13. Document and report any technical issues with equipment and work with appropriate personnel to resolve them.
  14. Travel within the state as needed to capture photographs at various locations.
  15. Respect and maintain confidentiality of sensitive information related to legislative sessions and government operations.

Job Qualifications
  • Knowledge Of Photography Techniques: The Ideal Candidate Should Possess A Thorough Understanding Of Photography Methods And Techniques, Including Lighting, Composition, Editing, And Equipment Operation.

  • Experience In Event Photography: The Candidate Should Have Prior Experience In Event Photography, With A Strong Portfolio Showcasing Their Ability To Capture Candid Moments, Group Shots, And Key Moments Of An Event.

  • Technical Skills: Proficiency In Using Professional Cameras, Lenses, And Lighting Equipment Is Essential. Experience With Photo Editing Software, Such As Adobe Photoshop, Is Also Preferred.

  • Flexibility And Adaptability: The Candidate Should Be Able To Adapt To Different Environments And Lighting Conditions, As Well As Be Flexible With Last-Minute Changes To The Event Schedule.

  • Professionalism And Communication Skills: A General Session Photographer Should Have Excellent Communication Skills And The Ability To Interact Professionally With Event Organizers, Attendees, And Other Members Of The Photography Team. They Should Also Be Punctual, Well-Groomed, And Able To Follow Instructions Effectively.
